CONT_NATION – ARTISTIC INTERVENTION
SEPTEMBER 22th - INTERNATIONAL CAR FREE DAY – CAMPINAS.SP.BRAZIL

Cont_Nation é um projeto de intervenção artística criado para as comemorações do Dia Internacional Sem Carro na cidade de Campinas/ São Paulo / Brasil. Elaborado por Sylvia Furegatti, é desenvolvido por um grupo de artistas, estudantes universitários e profissionais da EMDEC que foram organizados entre as etapas de pesquisa e práxis do trabalho. O projeto se efetiva na manhã do dia 22 de setembro nas ruas centrais da cidade.
Cont_Nation is an artistic intervention created for the commemorations of the Car Free International Day in Campinas City / São Paulo / Brazil. Elaborated by Sylvia Furegatti, the project is developed by a group built with artists, university students and EMDEC staff linked between it’s research and praxis phases. The project happens in the morning of 22 September at the down town streets.
A intervenção será feita por meio de desenhos em cal sobre o asfalto na Rua General Osório, centro de Campinas. Gabaritos de tamanho médio de 2 x 2 metros serão utilizados para a implantação de desenhos em cal/giz que traduzem ícones centrais retirados de bandeiras nacionais de 7 países.
The intervention will be constructed by lime drawings over the asphalt of General Osorio Street, Campinas, downtown. Stencils in a medium size of 2 x 2 meters will be used to reproduce the final lime drawings which translate the central icons forms of 7 national flags.
Os países foram escolhidos primeiramente por suas bandeiras. Apenas aqueles que tinham uma bandeira com formas arredondadas em seu núcleo central, tal qual a bandeira brasileira, entraram nessa lista. Daqui retira-se a idéia de mobilidade e circulação; a circularidade das nações, das pessoas, das formas icônicas criadas pelo homem. A seleção afunila-se mais e mantém no corpo do projeto apenas os países que já participaram do Evento Internacional do Dia Sem Carro.
Fist of all, the nations were chosen by its flags. Only those which flag’s central forms are in a circular shape, as one can see in Brazilian’s flag. This refers to the circulation and mobility; the circularity of the nations it self, its people or all circular icons that men has created. The selection adjusts itself keeping in the project just the participant nations of Car Free Day.
Folhetos com dados sobre os veículos x habitantes desses países além de longas bandeiras brancas contendo esses ícones, lançadas a partir de janelas dos prédios vizinhos ou hasteadas em equipamentos urbanos da praça que cerca a intervenção complementam o projeto.
Flyers with data from the these national numbers of vehicles x inhabitants, besides strip and white flags with theses icons, sent from the neighborhood buildings or released by the urban equipments of the piazza that outlines the intervention complete the project.
